APPLICATION TIPS
AIM staff and board of directors are mindful that time and resources required for determining opportunities for projects, as well as completing this application, will vary from municipality to municipality.
For those who have yet to enter into a contractual intergovernmental agreement, the first section, Getting Started, outlines the process for seeking out opportunities to consolidate and share services. It provides suggestions on determining if such projects are appropriate for your municipality; information on feasibility studies, including current contacts at DCED; and where to find resources.
Preparing the Application provides a detailed overview of the application process. It includes suggestions and ancillary materials for completing the application. Some parts of this section are designed specifically for municipal officials and administrators who are unfamiliar with grant writing, or have few resources currently dedicated to it. Experienced municipal officials and administrators, who have previously participated in service sharing initiatives, will also find this section useful. The end of the section contains tips that will allow your project to receive a higher rating.
The final section, Contract and Project Management, outlines the obligations of municipalities once a project is approved, including the reporting and reimbursement requirements and ancillary materials.
