Allegheny County Economic Development strives to help existing and new businesses grow and prosper in Allegheny County. We are dedicated to expanding and diversifying the region’s economic base to improve the quality of life for our citizens and businesses. Through many continuing programs and projects, ACED aims to create opportunities for businesses to succeed.

We accomplish this objective by addressing and eliminating contamination concerns and blighting influences, developing financial incentives and improving infrastructure through three initiatives: Business Development, Development and Special Projects and Financing.

  • Business Development focuses on facilitating the growth of Allegheny County’s existing businesses and recruiting new companies, both domestic and international, to the County. This initiative plays a lead role in retention and attraction activities as well as fostering start-up ventures.

  • Development efforts involve property acquisition, site development and redevelopment, and infrastructure improvement. In these efforts, Economic Development partners with municipalities, developers, public agencies, nonprofit development organizations, brokers, agents, architects, engineers, contractors and lending institutions to ensure that the necessary resources are available to support each project. We coordinate public processes so that projects are completed in a smooth and timely manner. Economic Development supports projects that create jobs, eliminate blight, develop the tax base and revitalize communities.

  • Special Projects and Financing initiatives provide vital financial assistance for projects through grants, loans, State funding and tax incentive programs. Economic Development also coordinates and administers special ACED projects such as airport area development.
